David first picked up a paint brush as an apprentice for a small remodeling company during a summer break in college. After dabbling in carpentry and general home improvement maintenance, he quickly realized that it was the “cherry-on-top” finishing touches that really drew him in…the transformational power of paint!

After graduating with a B.A. in Sociology from SF State, he jumped in full-time with a reputable San Francisco-based painting company to make a little money while taking a break before grad school. That break took him from SF to Steamboat Springs, CO, on to Denver, then further on to NYC to pursue graduate studies—painting all the while.   After receiving a Masters in Library and Information Science in Manhattan, his aspirations of becoming a special collections university librarian soon began to change.  He realized that clear communication, solid organization, and meticulous attention to detail are transferable skills!  After some soul searching, it dawned on him that a desk job for an institution might not be the best fit…that a career in painting would allow much more freedom of lifestyle, as well as the opportunity to exercise entrepreneurial objectives.

Some time later, he returned to Denver to create High Country Fine Finishes and to demonstrate all the craftsman skills and expertise he has accumulated over the past two decades in the painting trade. From “painted lady” Victorians in SF, to rustic, castle-like mansions in Steamboat, to beaux-arts condos on the Upper East Side and swanky bohemian downtown lofts in Tribeca in NYC, David has a wide variety of experience in the industry, primarily in the high-end residential sector.   His vast knowledge of product and process make him an elite painter who truly cares about achieving beautifully refined finishes.

In his spare time, David enjoys many things typical of the Colorado lifestyle—riding bikes, picnics in the park, gardening, hiking, skiing, yoga, reading, and spending time with his lovely wife and baby boy.
